Monthly Education Specialist

As our Monthly Education Specialist, you will assist us in planning our monthly education opportunity by recruiting speakers, finding a venue, and promoting the event.

Requirements:

  • Event promotion or coordination experience

NAMI Family-to-Family Facilitator

The Family-to-Family curriculum provides in-depth information on mental illnesses and the mental health system, techniques to help family members deal with their loved one’s illnesses and connects family members to local resources and support.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 hours per week
  • Upon completion of NAMI training, must commit to 2 series of 12-week classes
  • First-degree family member of someone living with a mental illness
  • Successful completion of the Family-to-Family course

NAMI Peer-to-Peer Facilitator

NAMI Peer-to-Peer mentors are uniquely qualified to lead education because they are going through their own recovery process. Mentors, therefore, can empathize with, encourage, and share personal wisdom with those who are just beginning the journey of mental health recovery. A NAMI Peer-to-Peer mentor ensures that the class achieves the educational objectives.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to 3 to 5 hours per week during the class.
  • Identifies as an individual living with a mental illness
  • Successful completion of the Peer-to-Peer course

NAMI Basics Facilitator

The NAMI Basics course is taught by trained teachers who are the parent or other caregivers of individuals who developed the symptoms of mental illness prior to the age of 13 years.The course consists of six classes, each lasting for 2 ½ hours.   Classes may be offered weekly for six consecutive weeks, or may be offered twice per week for three weeks to accommodate the hectic schedules of parents.

Requirements

  • Commitment to 3 to 5 hours per week during the class
  • Identify as a parent or primary caregiver of an individual who began experiencing symptoms prior to the age of 13.
  • Comfortable with the emotional issues families face and feels able to self-disclose their experience.
