Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to get involved with NAMI Wake County. Click the tabs above to explore opportunities by skillset. Complete the Volunteer Application linked below and schedule a time to speak with our Volunteer Coordinator about how we can work together. You can contact the Volunteer Coordinator by emailing

As of October 2020, our current volunteer needs include:

  • CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) Volunteer: The CIT Training is a partnership between NAMI Wake, Alliance Behavioral Health, and Wake Tech, in which law enforcement officers are taught de-escalation and support techniques to assist an individual in crisis. Volunteers are needed to share their story and participate in role-playing scenarios.
  • Virtual Program ‘Producer’: assist in technology needs during our virtual programs such as fixing audio, guiding facilitators through video controls, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Blog Contributor: collaborate with Engagement Specialist to produce high-quality informational or personal story posts for the NAMI Wake blog
  • Support Group Facilitators and Class Facilitators
